Welcome!

A message from our director:

I would like to welcome you to the Marianne Anderson School of Dance.  I have been teaching dance in this community for the past 36 years, and feel privileged to work with all the dancers who find their way to my door.  Many are second generation whose parents attended the school.

The role of the dance educator has changed significantly over the years.  Today’s dance training is an educational process that has a major influence on young minds.  The school’s reputation is built upon its ability to provide a nurturing and positive experience for each and every student.  The young dancer has fun while developing confidence, creativity, and a love of the arts.  My staff teaches with the highest level of professional ethics and are well trained in multiple dance disciplines.  As important, they are good teachers who can convey the art with kindness and enthusiasm.

Dance is a performing art.  As such, our students are provided numerous opportunities to perform on stage (and for parents, opportunities to observe their progress).

The arts have always given back to the community far more than the support they receive.  In this tradition, the MASD has extended its reach to the greater community performing in fundraisers to benefit the victims of 9/11, Habitat for Humanity’s Tsunami Relief, as well as Holiday Performances at North Shore University Hospital’s Stern Family Center for Extended Care & Rehabililitation, Nassau University Medical Center’s Pediatric Unit and the Nassau County Dept. of Social Services & Volunteerism, and our special production in memory of Victoria Riccardi to benefit both the “Little Cha” Foundation and the John Theissen Children’s Foundation.

    
We look forward to the journey ahead and will continue to supply the inspiration and attention each dancer needs to perform their personal best.
